Let me ask you a question.
When was the last time you did NOTHING?
Can you remember the last time you engaged in complete and total rest? No reading. No video watching. No talking. No doing anything. Just sitting and being in the moment?
If you can’t think of the last time you engaged in nothing-doing – You are not alone.
If you can remember a time when you did do this, let me ask you this – did you enjoy it? Was it a peaceful experience for you? Relaxing? Enlightening?
Or was it filled with emotional, mental and physical turmoil?
Have you ever had the experience of feeling super overwhelmed and over taxed in your life, feeling drained, tired, pushed to the brink and spread too thin – but then the second you get the chance to actually relax and recover, you kinda hated it?
Do you find yourself looking forward to your breaks, your weekends, your holidays – only to find that you need lots of other kinds of stimulation or numbing to get through it without going crazy?
Do you notice that when the world stops turning around you for a moment, that you actually feel WORSE than when you are being over taxed and over stressed in your life?
You see, you are living in a world where you are CONSTANTLY stimulated.
You are constantly being pulled in a million different directions. Being essentially told never to stop, never to rest, never to allow for the dreaded boredom.
It is time to learn to rest. It is time to learn to embrace boredom. It is time to learn to embrace all that ‘comes up’ when you stop.
Because if you don’t you are literally going to drive yourself straight to your own grave. Spiritually, mentally, emotionally and most likely physically too.
You deserve to be able to be at peace in stillness.
