Feeling The Fear And Doing It Anyway – Retraining Your Nervous System After Trauma

If you have been watching any of my videos as of late, you know I have been talking a LOT about childhood trauma - how we developed our ‘ego’s’, false beliefs, contradictory behaviors and ways of being that are out of sync with reality.

We have been diving deep into how our NERVOUS SYSTEMS got programmed that love = approval, as in our childhood state of total dependence upon our caregivers, love and approval meant provision. Thus, to be anything or not NOT be anything that got us approved of was to feel the threat of death.

With this, humanity has, in general, an out of alignment idea that LEARNING = being WRONG and BAD. Thus we fear the unknown, not knowing, change, evolution and growth in a lot of ways, because it has been conditioned into us that these things are paramount to FAILURE, and thus rejection, and thus again, death.

This is how we all developed our ‘ego’ selves. Our shadow aspects. The parts of us that cope, self sabotage, scapegoat, blame, project, do the same things over and over expecting different results - this is how we developed our ‘insanity.’

Now, it’s time to talk about how to move BEYOND this trauma, so we can actually become our true selves.

Looking at the why’s of how we got to where we are is important, and now discovering what we have the power to DO about it is the next step.

There is a way to re-train your nervous system so that you can BE YOURSELF without all the story, drama and trauma. There is a way of learning how to learn without feeling that you are failing when you admit that you didn’t know something. There is a way to overcome disappointment in life, shame and guilt.

It’s all about feeling the fear of death, and doing it anyway.
