Hi friends.
Alright, before you click away from this post thinking it is just click bate, I am going to ask you to just stick around and hear me out.
This is not a post or video on the merits of social media, or my views on how it is or is not 'evil' or 'fake,' Nor is this a commentary on whether or not I think what Essena has done is awesome or a publicity stunt.
I think we have enough opinions on that subject floating around the internet to last us a lifetime.
This post is about the fact that there is something of value in everything - so long as you are willing to look for that value.
This drama may seem like just a big explosion that will fizzle out in a few weeks - and it is easy to write it off as such.
But if we look a little deeper, if we are able to sink below the surface to see what gems lie in this, I think we can all walk away better people for it.
The three lessons I feel we can mine from this collective experience are:
1. Being loved for you who you are not is unsatisfying. You may as well be yourself and validate yourself than fear rejection and pretend to be someone you are not.
2. Stuff WONT make you happy, and WE need to stop buying into the idea that it can.
3. Gratitude is the best attitude.
So have a listen and see what you think.
Remember, everything in life is trying to help you, but it can only do so if you let it.
