The Ultimate Truth About Why There’s No Such Thing As Self Sabotage/Seeking Pain

I feel it's time we put an end to the idea that any of us have a 'bad' part of self that just wants to harm us.
It's time we put an end to the idea that we have 'self sabotaging' parts that just don't want us to have good things.
It's time that we end the myth that there's any part of our psychology that's there simply to make our lives and experiences terrible, that seek pain for the sake of it, that harm for no reason or that need to be removed or 'fixed' so that we can be happy.
It's time that we remove the stigma around addiction, self abuse and even the abuse of others - not in a way where we try to say that these behaviors are GOOD and we should always allow them to continue unchallenged - but so that we can actually understand where these ways of being COME FROM - so we actually have a chance at effecting positive change.
I believe that until we come to an understanding about what all of these seemingly 'bad' parts of self are REALLY doing, what they REALLY want for us, how they are trying to help us, where they 'came from' and what they NEED - we are going to be attempting to fight against them to no prevail forever. We will be stuck in our objectively harmful ways of being with no power to ACTUALLY shift to something that would be better - because we're fighting an enemy that doesn't actually exist and we're ignoring a friend that needs to be supported.
When I say that there's absolutely no bad part of you - I mean it. Even the parts that seem to be holding you back from joy, that seem to be keeping you stuck in patterns that hurt, that seem to cause harm to others and that seem to defy all reason and logic.
When I say that ALL parts of you need love and support in order to GROW and MATURE vs. needing to be disciplined or shrunk down in some way - I mean it.
There are NO bad parts of self - all parts of you are doing exactly what they believe they NEED to do to keep you safe.
When we can understand this, we have the power to create change. When we don't, we will continue to fight against an imaginary ghost, abandoning our needs, and staying stuck just as we are.

Getting off of the self improvement path and onto the self love path is hard.

Because everywhere we look in society, we are TRAINED to be in a perpetual state of self improvement.

We're trained to be in a perpetual state of feeling like we aren't enough, like our pain is a reflection of something being 'wrong' with us, like if we are failing to live up to the expectations of those around us that this means that we are flawed, broken and messed up and we're trained to CONSTANTLY feel like we are lacking something - because this is what keeps our society functioning how it functions.

Learning to understand WHY we have the habits we have, why we self sabotage, scapegoat and numb, why we can't seem to 'get it together' in our relationships, health and careers, why we have emotions, why our thoughts don't seem to help us move forward and why we struggle so much to be nice to ourselves is a MASSIVE key to building a life that actually works for us.

Learning where we don't need fixing, healing or changing, but rather where we need SUPPORT, self awareness and tools to help us EXPRESS and GROW is even harder work.
