The WAY we are producing and consuming isn't HEALTHY for anyone.
The reality is, the systems we have are 'working' for some people - people who are being supported by the system are 100% reaping the rewards of safety, access, wealth, opportunity and even luxury - but there's something dark lurking under all of this that is often overlooked.
On the flip side, if you take even just a few moments to step back and critically look at what's happening for those who are NOT being supported by the system, you can easily see the harm being done. You can see the lack of access, power, opportunity and safety and if you look for just a moment you can see that this is being CREATED by the systems we have.
With this, it's not just a matter of some people being benefited and some people being disadvantaged. Rather you can easily see where what we have is creating a situation where many people HAVE to be in a state of lack/manufactured discontent in order for those who are benefiting to continue benefiting the way that they are.
It's not just that some people are winning and some are losing in our systems - it's that in order for those who are winning to win, they RELY on those who are being held back to be held back.
There is a massive amount of gate-keeping in terms of who gets access to what, who is allowed to be in which spaces, who is worthy of safety, rights, freedoms and opportunity and who isn't - and the reality of THIS is that there is a denial of our humanity that is baked-in to our culture.
The competition based model we're all operating under, the working conditions that have been normalized, the way we are raised to see ourselves and one another in order to be viable in our systems, what we have been trained to value and chase after vs. what we have been trained to disconnect from and not see as worthy - ALL of these things are contributing to human suffering - whether you have privilege or not.
Today I want to argue for the idea that just because some people are monetarily being supported by the system, doesn't mean that they are achieving HEALTH in their lives.
I feel that it's REALLY important for us to understand the harm being caused by the system for ALL who are participating, so that we will be more willing to fight for the change that needs to happen so that all of us have a chance at actual health.
What we have right now may benefit some in some ways, but it's incredibly degrading in terms of our actual humanity.
