We have all been there.
Perhaps you have been spending a lot of time with people that kinda drag you down rather than lift you up.
Maybe you have been neglecting your practices, or your health supporting routines and are now reaping the energetic repercussions of that.
Perhaps you have been indulging in too many negative thoughts and conversations and have forgotten how magical life is.
Or maybe you are just plain tired.
No matter how you got here, you are now feeling low, listless, negative, bummed out and just not yourself.
So what do you do? Here are my top five tips to help you raise your own energy, your vibration and get you back to feeling positive and like life is magical again. Because you deserve to feel good all the time đ
Top 5 Ways To Boost Your Vibration
1. Listen To Something That Lifts You Up: This also goes for watching things that lift you and reading things that lift you. Essentially with this you are allowing someone else to 'transfer' their awesome high vibrations to you through their words/pictures. Sometimes the root of your negative feelings are your negative thoughts, and there are sometimes days when you are not able to think yourself out of your negative thoughts alone. That is why flooding your consciousness with positivity from the outside can give you an energetic boost!
I love this clip from Ester Hicks
I love most things from Alan Watts
Any of the lectures from Ram Dass
The awesome thing about these things is they will truly immediately boost your energy, and you can listen to them while you are eating your breakfast, getting ready for your day, on your lunch break or even while you work!
2. Choose A Joy Activity: One of the greatest pitfalls to living a joyful life is not taking the time to do things that are just for fun. I used to be the kind of gal that only did things if they had a purpose - I would walk to work so that I was getting exercise while I was commuting. I would cook and clean to take care of my home and my hubby, not because I liked having a clean house of enjoyed cooking. I would only read self help or spiritually based books. I would only watch 'mindless' T.V if I also had my computer in front of me so I could work at the same time.
This way of being really sucked the fun out of living, and lowered my energies. I wanted to be more 'spiritual' but by losing my connection with play, I was actually lowering my vibration and making myself less of a light on this earth.
I challenge you to pick 1 or 2 activities that are not self improvement projects that you enjoy doing, and have them ready to be utilized whenever you feel an energetic down turn. It would be ideal if you could make these play time activities a regular part of your every day life, because these actives may help prevent energetic down turns, so keep that in mind.
Some ideas:
- Play a sudoku, word search, cross word or build a puzzle.
- Read a fun book on a subject you genuinely enjoy OR read a novel purely for entertainment.
- Go for a walk some place beautiful.
- Play catch with your kids, dogs or partner.
- Cook a meal just for fun (if cooking is fun for you - otherwise don't do this one!)
- Play cards.
- Watch something trashy on T.V - sometimes you just need a brain break.
- Turn on some music and move to it! Sing along too!
- Have some sexy time đ
The key here is to choose something that is purely fun, and to have No.Guilt.About.It. Playtime is essential. You do not stop playing because you have grown old, you grow old (or tired, or sick, or unhappy) because you stopped playing, as the saying goes.
3. Rest (That Means Actually Rest Not Pretend Rest): I was a super awesome pretend rester. You know what I am talking about - doing a 'light' yoga class, or going for an hour walk instead of a run. Sitting and writing a few articles ahead of time instead of just allowing myself to nap. Rest that looks like rest but isn't really rest at all.
When I say rest, in this case I mean really take some rest. Take a nap. Read a light book. Sit outside and journal. Sometimes our energies can dip when we are putting the pedal to the metal a little too much a little too often - which is really a pretty easy trap to fall into if you are not taking the time to check in with yourself regularly or if you really enjoy the life you have. It can also happen when you are really NOT liking the life you lead every day. This can cause fear - fear of not enough money, not enough food, being stuck in this situation forever - and this fear can become a kind of crazy motivation to push yourself beyond your limits.
In any case, taking some genuine time out to just rest and re-charge your batteries is the best thing you can do. Either it will give you what you need to keep on with your awesome life, or it can provide you with a safe environment to let the fear go for a while, until you can get back up and re-asses your situation.
4. Move Yo Bod: Movement is so.amazing for boosting your mood, your energy and your vitality. You most certainly do not have to go run a marathon or anything like that. Doing a simple yoga flow, putting on your favourite tune and dancing up a storm, doing some jumping jacks or going for a quick walk all count! Of course you will benefit from the endorphins, but you will also have an energetic release while you move that could very well leave you feeling refreshed and back to your normal self.
5. Elevate Your Thoughts: Lastly, I recommend getting out your trusty gratitude journal (I KNOW you have a gratitude journal đ ), and sitting down to write out all the amazing blessings that are occurring in your life each day.
You can start small, but do pick something that genuinely makes you feel grateful - don't just go through the motions. Sit in your appreciation feeling, and then build upon that. Think of more and more things that are wonderful in your life, then move on to all the wonderful people, all the wonderful experiences you have had, all the amazing things you love to do. Keep going.
Remember that at the end of the day, no matter what is going on in your life you get to choose to have thoughts that make you feel good, or thoughts that keep you feeling low. You are in control of what you think! So think high and feel high.
Bonus Tip: Music Is Magical: The last thing I recommend is listening to music. Music has a way of elevating the vibrations in the room almost instantaneously. You do not have to listen to Sanskrit chants (although I highly recommend that you do sometimes) to get the feeling boost. Pick music you know you enjoy and listen to it for a while. I know you will feel better once you do!
Here is a fun one to get you going:
Before we go, I want to add one last thing. If you are finding that your energy slumps are more a way of life for you than they are something that happens every once in a while, I really encourage you to do some digging into your heart and mind as to why you are not feeling joy in your life on a regular basis.
The truth is that you DESERVE to feel joy most of the time. You deserve to live a life you love. If you are not, you can change things!
But you will have to learn to listen to yourself. Energy slumps can be your bodies way of letting you know that something in your life is out of alignment with your highest purpose. With your greatest happiness. Listen to your energy slumps and head their wisdom.
