Beware The Toxic Influencer

Social media is an interesting and polarized place.

On the one hand, it's created a platform for people who would never have had access to traditional media to share their gifts, talents and services with the world in a way that's really changed peoples lives for the better - both from the creator and the consumer standpoint.

On the other, it's been a place where we've seen the perpetuation of toxic capitalism, where we've been inundated with people selling us false hopes and dreams, where we've been manipulated where we're the most vulnerable and where people have profited off of our insecurities while pretending to be people who care and who want to help.

The rise of the self-help industry with all of it's curated vulnerability, it's 'I'm just like you only 10% better so follow me and you too can become better' and it's insidious capitalizing on promises that it can deliver us from our deepest fears and existential dread has been aided by things like social media - and this is something we need to become really wary of as we move forward as a society.

The truth is, there are a lot of people out there these days who know exactly how to market to our fear. There are a lot of people out there who know how to LOOK like they have the answers to our questions, who LOOK like they can teach us how to live healthier, happier, more fulfilled lives, who LOOK like they have some sort of secret that can take us from lives where we feel deeply dissatisfied with what we have to lives where we feel like we're thriving - when in reality they are all smoke and mirrors with excellent lighting, background music and the perfect eye for content creation.

There are a lot of people out there who are profiting themselves greatly through exploitation dressed up as spirituality or service.
There are a LOT of people out there pretending to have the secrets to health, wealth, youth, connection and security - when in reality they only know how to APPEAR to have these things enough that others will pay them.

We need to be very conscious of what people are selling us and how they're selling to us in this world, because the reality is, anyone can pretend to have anything at this point.

Today let's talk about how to interact with influencers and other 'helpers' out on the internet so that we can protect ourselves from being taken advantage of. This is an important conversation, and one I hope to continue to have as time goes on.

Getting off of the self improvement path and onto the self love path is hard.

Because everywhere we look in society, we are TRAINED to be in a perpetual state of self improvement.

We're trained to be in a perpetual state of feeling like we aren't enough, like our pain is a reflection of something being 'wrong' with us, like if we are failing to live up to the expectations of those around us that this means that we are flawed, broken and messed up and we're trained to CONSTANTLY feel like we are lacking something - because this is what keeps our society functioning how it functions.

Learning to understand WHY we have the habits we have, why we self sabotage, scapegoat and numb, why we can't seem to 'get it together' in our relationships, health and careers, why we have emotions, why our thoughts don't seem to help us move forward and why we struggle so much to be nice to ourselves is a MASSIVE key to building a life that actually works for us.

Learning where we don't need fixing, healing or changing, but rather where we need SUPPORT, self awareness and tools to help us EXPRESS and GROW is even harder work.

This is why I created the Aliyah Mystery School.

The School is your one stop shop for exactly how to:

Be your own safe place - and why that matters

Learn how your body speaks so you can better support it

Learn how your emotions speak so you can use them as guidance

Learn how to problem solve so you don't feel like every challenge means that you're stuck or that you need someone to come tell you want to do

Determine for yourself what is and isn't working in your life - and how to change even when that means upsetting others or being different

Support yourself through feeling the pain of your past so that you can integrate and move forward

So much more!

This school contains all the tools you need to really get to KNOW yourself, so that you can figure out what you need to feel your best in any given time - step by step, in a methodical way.

If you resonate with the content around here, but you want something more organized, a clear map for how to get on the self love path and how it will change your life - this school is for you.

Below you can find a video showing you EXACTLY what's in the school and how it will support you on your quest to build a life that feels amazing for you

Check it out HERE and let me know what you think when you do!

…..agree Aliyah…..since navigating my child loss journey….grief journey…..so many attendant journeys related to BelovedChristopher’s death…..I have seen this almost exponentially explode in social media since I began seeking adjunct support to the great foundation of family and friend support. Wow….buyer beware. I find it easy to discern, take what you like and leave the rest….but you’re right….there’s a certain way these resources are rolled out and I am seeing the similarities in the many self help/mental health areas. Good to point out. I have known you at my first social media resource for “sound and reasonable words” to ponder since 2009….I think that’s when I signed up for Facebook….I believe you were there with Perception Trainers then….I have always loved you….you’re great….and sincere…..and real….I remember so much of your personal story because I have been with you so long…..not just following….you are personal with people….the last years have been filled with so much suffering for me….and the many times you have responded to me have made a difference in my life….in my world and sometimes I journal your responses or go back and reread what I wrote to you and how you answered….I told Christopher about you and read some of your words to him…I’m so glad…..I love your monthly talks in your home….the noises…the coziness…sometimes Marcus walking about….so fun and truly you are simply lovely and heartwarming. Love you, Mary Anne??❣️
