Acceptance - usually when we hear this word, we think 'surrendering' to what is. We think of letting go, and no longer trying to change things, and trying to find peace/okness with whatever is occuring.
Much of the time in the spirituality and self help worlds, we're taught that to 'accept' life for how it is, is the ticket to freedom - we're told that part of the reason we all suffer and struggle so much in life is because we're in resistance to what is and that this resistance is making us miserable.
There's a general idea that reality itself isn't the thing that's 'wrong or bad' but rather it's our lack of willingness to 'surrender' into it that makes us experience the negative emotions we do, and that causes us to feel anything but liberated, empowered, connected and calm.
The truth is, I think most of us don't really understand the TRUE power of acceptance.
In real reality, acceptance doesn't necessarily mean that we're saying that how things are is how we want them to stay. In fact, I will be making the argument today that the FASTEST way to create change is to START with acceptance - because it's in accepting what is that we can actually understand what is. And it's with this understanding that we find our true power.
I want to explore why to some degree we may be causing ourselves pain via resisting reality - but that to come into a state of acceptance doesn't then mean that everything that is legitimately painful about what we're in magically goes away.
I want to talk about why acceptance is a powerful tool for feeling better - but this doesn't mean acceptance for acceptances' sake is the be-all-end-all to happiness - it's a jumping off point. It's an information point. It's a starting position - it's not where we land.
Acceptance is a powerful tool for change, and for relieving pain - but let's make sure we are covering all the nuance and complexity that's involved here too so that we're not caught up in desperately trying to 'accept' and wondering why we can't/why it doesn't work to make us feel better.

Remember, you don't have to do this self love path all alone.
Figuring out how to support ourselves, how to be on our own side, how to figure out what our emotions are saying, how to problem solve so we can build lives that work for us - it can be confusing.
That's why I've built the Mystery School - a three year self study program designed to take the guess work out of this path, so you can start to really connect to who YOU are, what YOU need, and how to create a life that supports that.
It's a program designed to help you begin thinking in 'systems' so you can be a part of the positive change we need to see on this planet.
It's all about finding compassion and working with curiosity so we can understand ourselves and life in general better, and so we can use that understanding to create BETTER models for LIFE!
I’d love to have you as part of the community - remember we also meet as a group once a month for an exclusive live chat where we address whatevers most pertinent for everyone at the time. The course itself is self-paced so you can work through it at whatever speed works for you - starting whenever you like!
