Any Spirituality That Asks Us To Deny Our Humanity Will Lead To Pain And Chaos

Hello Love!

It's natural and normal to want to get rid of/transcend the parts of our humanity that are causing us pain.

Many of us turn to spirituality/self help because we are caught in loops of thought/feeling/behavior that are leading to destruction and chaos - and all we want is to be delivered from these parts because we believe THIS is what will give us the capacity to live a happier, healthier life.

We believe we have bad/evil parts of self. With this, spirituality and self help tells us that the SOLUTION to the pain that these parts are causing is in TRANSCENDENCE.

We're told that we can get to a place of joy and peace only via learning how to rise above, dissociate from, disidentify from and otherwise spiritualize/discipline out of ourselves these parts that are 'acting badly.'

We're handed a blueprint for what a spiritual or self actualized person is supposed to be like/act like/feel like, and we're told that our task is to pursue 'becoming' like this blueprint.

What this looks like practically is using our willpower or spiritual practices to help us deny any parts of self that don't fit the blueprint. To suppress them. To attempt to rise above them, cleanse them away, 'clear' them with healing rituals.

There is SO much work that is done to try to escape, transcend and avoid these parts of self - thinking that if we just do enough spiritual work or ritual, if we just deny ourselves and use our willpower enough - eventually we will get to a place where these 'dark' parts of ourselves will be purified out of us - where we can then be the blueprint of spiritual perfection - being one with no negative emotions, no 'bad' habits, no human foibles because we did it, we spiritually evolved enough that we are now not susceptible to those things anymore.

Again the promise is that we can find peace and joy via forcing ourselves to become the blueprint via denying any aspect of ourselves that doesn't fit the blueprint.

This sounds reasonable to us again, because most of us perceive any part of self that isn't a part of the spiritual blueprint to be 'bad.' To be 'evil.' To be the CAUSE of our pain. We really believe that it is these 'bad parts' that are the ROOT of all of our misery and thus of COURSE the one solution is to get rid of them. We want to believe that this can be done through spiritual discipline and purification because again - what else are we going to do?

So we try. We practice. We purify. We do the things. We have the sessions. We put in all the work.

We work really hard to be spiritual, we feel high and excited for a short period of time, our willpower is strong and we feel capable of being this 'new person' - only to find that eventually, it all comes up to the surface, everything we've been pushing down and trying to spiritualize away returns, and it returns with a vengeance.

We then think we did something wrong, we failed at our spiritual path and we dive deeper into more tools that promise to help us transcend.

In this we also are going to notice that a LOT of the people we are following/listening to have some dark skeletons in their own closets. We are going to continually find that in this attempt to transcend and deny - what actually happens is people have no place to 'put' these parts of themselves that don't 'fit' into the spiritual box - and rather than that leading to those parts actually disappearing, it means that those parts are going to come out in another way - usually in a very deeply shadowed and painful way.

Because the truth is, there's no denying our humanity into a state of joy and bliss.

If we don't have tools to actually DEAL with these parts of self - to understand where they're coming from, why they exist, how they're trying to help us, what we need and how to grow and mature these parts of self - they are just going to keep existing as they are, acting how they are, and running the show - no matter how much we attempt to resist them.

When we don't have a place to process what's really going on, it will come out as shadow.

Today let's deeply explore this - why trying to deny aspects of ourselves is the WORST method for creating change in our lives, why acknowledgement is hard in the beginning but leads to much better results long term, and why all the transcendence work, doesn't work and only makes things worse.

Getting off of the self improvement path and onto the self love path is hard.

Because everywhere we look in society, we are TRAINED to be in a perpetual state of self improvement.

We're trained to be in a perpetual state of feeling like we aren't enough, like our pain is a reflection of something being 'wrong' with us, like if we are failing to live up to the expectations of those around us that this means that we are flawed, broken and messed up and we're trained to CONSTANTLY feel like we are lacking something - because this is what keeps our society functioning how it functions.

Learning to understand WHY we have the habits we have, why we self sabotage, scapegoat and numb, why we can't seem to 'get it together' in our relationships, health and careers, why we have emotions, why our thoughts don't seem to help us move forward and why we struggle so much to be nice to ourselves is a MASSIVE key to building a life that actually works for us.

Learning where we don't need fixing, healing or changing, but rather where we need SUPPORT, self awareness and tools to help us EXPRESS and GROW is even harder work.

Knowing how and when to actually implement the tools I share, and learning how to use these tools on a regular basis is hard.

Learning to understand our emotions and how to question our thoughts and perception is hard.

All the information you can find here IS the information - but figuring out exactly how to apply it - that's the difficult part.
