MANTRAS Are found at the bottom of the post 🙂

1. How does the challenge work?

The way the challenge works is very simple:

- There will be a new mantra for each day of the 30 days.

- You will select a 10-30 minute time slot in your day where you can focus on your daily mantra.

- You will repeat the daily mantra 108 times, either in your head or out loud.

- You will then go on about your day, noticing how your mantra meditation affects you.

* You get bonus points for journalling about your experience each day - so that you can look back and reflect on what has happened over the 30 days at the end.

** You get double bonus points for checking in with me here on the Blog and letting me know how it is going for you 🙂

2. Do I need to be seated in a cross legged position?

No. You may sit or lay however feels best for you (just make sure you wont fall asleep) You can even do this while you are walking to work, doing the dishes or anything else that does not demand your full and complete attention. Please do not do this while driving or operating machinery or cooking.

It is ideal to do this when you are relaxed and at rest.

3. Why 108 times?

The 108 number is very sacred. You can read more about it here - http://www.swamij.com/108.htm

And here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/108_(number) and here - http://humanityhealing.net/2011/08/the-mystic-meaning-of-the-number-108/

4. Do I need mala beads to complete the challenge?

No. They do make it easier, but you can also count on your fingers or in your head as you practice your mantra. Even if you do not keep track 100% that is OK.

5. I already have a faith, will these mantras contradict what I believe?

No. All mantras are non-denominational and focused on you.

6. I do not believe in a higher power, can I still do this challenge?

Yes! All mantras are designed to help you feel strong and at peace. They are not focused on a higher power but on your own inner power.

7. I have never meditated before, can I still do this challenge?

Yes!  This practice is amazing for first time meditators. It will help you discover what meditation feels like, and it will give you some practice with focus and concentration. These mantras are an excellent starting place for meditation.

8. I already have a mediation practice, can I still do this challenge?

Yes 🙂 Adding mantra to your mediation practice will add a new dimension and a new richness.

9. What is the purpose of this challenge?

The purpose of the challenge is up to you. I believe that by repeating mantra the mind can be calmed, intuition can be more clearly felt and heard and individual power and belief in ones self can be greatly increased.  You may use it as time our of your day for yourself, as a way to calm and relax before or after a long day, or as a way to just steady yourself and connect to the present moment. Whatever it means to you is what it is meant to mean.

10. How do I use my mala beads?

Your mala beads should have one bead that is its base, where the extra sting is emerging. To begin you will place your thumb and index finger around the base bead and state your mantra either out loud or silently. You will then move to the next bead, holding it between your thumb and forefinger and repeat your mantra again. You will proceed to repeat your mantra once for every bead. The purpose of the beads is to keep track of your repetitions so that you do not have to actually count them.

11. Can I do this any time, outside of a challenge?

Yes!  Feel free to add any of these mantras to your regular meditation practice, or choose the one or ones you like the most and do them when you feel is best for you 🙂
