Monday Musings ~ What If It Is Not Your Body?

What if it is not your body that is causing you to hate you?

What if it is not your body that is restricting your life?

What if it is not your body that is telling you that you are worthless, incomplete, shameful, dirty, wrong and less than?

What if all the thoughts you think about your body and how it has done you wrong, only serve to keep you in a spiral of self hate?

What if all the diets, the workout programs, the resolutions, the "Ill start on Monday's" are simply keeping you trapped?

What if it is not the food?

What if it is not that you ate this or did not eat that, or that you ate at this time?

What if the food is not good or bad?

What if it is not about calories consumed or burned, about macronutrient values?

What if there is something deeper?

What if there is something far more significant going on, that is being brushed under the surface?

stop hating

Because we live in a time where negative emotions, hurt feelings, unexpressed passions, and self expression in general are shamed, our bodies have started to bare a brunt they were never meant to bare.

You see, we have created a tangled web for ourselves.

We have created a dichotomy where our bodies and our food choices play a role that they were never meant to play.

Where we find our virtue in what we put in our mouths and the number on the tag in our pants.

Where we determine value and worth based on what is on our plates, or what is not on our plates.

Where we learn to criticize, judge, hate and condemn ourselves based on how much gravity we displace.

Where health is no longer about feeling good so you can go out and live your life.

Where health is no longer about health.

This needs to stop friends.

We need to be stronger than this.

We need to be wiser than this.

We need to look deeper than this.

I understand the temptation to scapegoat everything onto your body. I do. I have done it.

I understand that the emotions, the fears, the greatness, the expressions within you way overwhelm you. May scare you. May cause you to run screaming.

I get that.

But this body obsession is worse. This game of self hate and self love based on clothing size and diet prescription is far more painful than facing anything inside of you will ever be.

I know. I know because I have lived it.

You see, the body stuff is un-resolvable.

It is a never ending cycle.

You can't get off the ride.

There is no solution, no end, no final destination.

It is simply a loop that plays over and over, again and again.

When you choose to focus on your body, and ignore what is going on inside, you set yourself up to live a life of perpetual dissatisfaction.

You will always be striving, never arriving.

This is SO much worse than facing whatever it is within you that is in need of love and attention.

Your broken heart, your bruised ego, your childhood traumas.

Your passions that have been shamed and swept under the rug.

Your dreams that you feel so passionately about, that the thought of not reaching them makes you sick.

Your desires that are deep, that are powerful, that are all consuming, sensual and sexual.

Your true beingness. That is unpredictable, uncageable, unboxable.

These things, my friend, these things are in need of your light. In need of your love. In need of your focus.

When you start to look beyond the body, yes there will be pain. There will be things to work through. There will be overwhelm and confusion and rage and tears.

But there will also be freedom. There will be healing. There will be movement towards a life you want to live.

bodylove

This is something that a ten pound weight loss or a successful completion of a diet can never offer.

This is something no number on a scale can ever give you.

Your body was not designed to satisfy you. To define you. To express who you are.

Your body is meant to carry you.

Yes, it is designed for health - but that health was never meant to be a part of your virtue.

So the power is yours my friend. To step off the hamster wheel. To step INTO who you really are.

To look beyond your flesh for your value. To actually own that you are more than just this body, and that this body is here to serve your life, not the other way around.

Go in.

That is all you have to do.

Crack the lid. Break the seal.

There is so much more to you than your body.

Your body is meant to serve your life, not the other way around.

Find yourself.

Your body will come into alignment when you do. Never before.
