When Sister Came To Town Part Two~

Hi again!

Here is the rest of the shinanigans we got up to while Sammi was here visiting us in San Francisco!

If you missed part one of this post, you can read it here.

Now, onto the jam packed weekend!

So I know I said in my last post that Sammi and I went to Plant Cafe on Friday - but that was a lie. It was actually THURSDAY. Friday was July 4th, and Marcus had the day off! So we decided to take the trip out to Berkley - which is a suburb of San Francisco to see the sights.

The trip started with a long train ride UNDER WATER across to the mainland:

We actually took a bus to the train to a train to Berkley. We were all having mixed emotions about the train as you can see:

We were all feeling different things.

I am so professional I even got my thumb in there.

We wanted to go to a Resto called Herbivore, but of course it was closed due to the holiday. So we walked up and down the street for several minutes before we decided on a sushi place. I had some ice tea, because ice tea is classy.

I am classy like that

Marcus got himself some classy miso soup.

Sammi ordered her traditional Avocado rolls, and Marcus got something really gross with fish  A salmon something rather:

The vegan meets the non vegan.

We all partook in some yummy fresh cucumber salad as well:

We then walked around Berkley for a bit so we could see the university, after which we took another train to Oakland. From there we took a REALLY HOT walk through some nature. It is amazing how much warmer it is away from the coast!

We for about 30 minutes only to discover that we had taken a wrong turn at did not take our intended route towards Souplantation (our destination.) Fortunately for us Sammi is an expert navigator and got us back on track. We did a little more walking and soon ended up at SOUPLANTATION!

Salad success!

Salad success!

We really wanted to take Sammi here because it is not often that a Vegan can go to an all you can eat buffet and have more than iceberg lettuce and tomatoes to choose from. Sammi was pretty excited, as was Marcus. I was medium excited 😉

So much salad

Marcus had several rounds of salad, soup, and baked potatoes:

Sam was impressed by it all as well. She was so impress in fact that she turned into Kristen Stewart:

Oh hey there Kristen

Oh hey there Kristen

I was pretty stoked that Kristen decided to grace us with her presence.

Starstruck by Kristen, obviously

After Stuffing our gobs Eating our fill, we headed back to the train the proper way this time. We got on the train at around 7 and it was totally deserted. We found the empty train to be really funny for some reason. It was also kinda creepy.

It was only 98% creepy

It was only 98% creepy

It ended up taking us about 2 hours to finally get back home, and because it was the Fourth of July the streets were packed! We barely managed to get on a bus that took us home because everyone was headed in our general direction due to the fact that we live very close to the beach where the fire works were going to be. It was mayhem but cool to see.

We all got up bright and early on Saturday so that we could show Sammi The Fairy Plaza farmers market. I was most excited about this and had been waiting for this day all week!

The produce was amazing as usual. Marcus could not help himself and decided he needed a peach:

She wanted to see. He was not interested in letting her.

She wanted to see. He was not interested in letting her.

He basically spent about 400 years choosing that peach - paid 4 dollars for it, took two bites and decided it wasn't good and threw it away. Womp womp.

We also got to stop at the date stall. Sam was so excited to purchase fresh local dates for the first time in her life.

She was just as happy as a little mountain goat.

We wandered around the Ferry Plaza for a while, and hung out in Sur La Table - which is always a bad idea for me. I can literally think of a reason why I need everything in that store.

This is a really dangerous place for me to be

I extracted myself from my budget killer the store just in time. We took a nice walk along to sea wall and stopped for more token yoga posing. Some ladies saw me and asked me to demonstrate Crow pose for them. They then told me I should join the circus. I am starting to think that perhaps I should actually join the circus because I am told that more often than I am told anything else.

Yeah. Life with me involves a lot of this.

Yeah. Life with me involves a lot of this.

We walked our way to the SoMa Whole Foods and Sammi's head exploded. We explored everything, then we waited for Marcus to choose some crackers for himself. We were enthusiastic about this waiting:

And life with Marcus involves a lot of this.

My two besties then got themselves some lunch so that they would be occupied while I blogged. (Weirdly enough, I am literally sitting at the exact same table in the exact same Whole Foods as I was in this picture RIGHT NOW as I blog this, Inception again. My life is one giant Inception)

Marcus was REALLY into the photos

From Whole Foods we headed to Golden Gate Park. (This park is not to be confused with Presidio park which is actually attached to the Golden Gate Bridge. Golden Gate Park is not. San Fran, ??)

Whoa nature. Whoa.

Whoa nature. Whoa.

We walked through the amazing park and were all enthralled by its beauty. We walked all the way through the park and arrived at the Japanese Tea Gardens:

Remember that artistic thing I always do?!

We wandered around and realized we should not have gone. We should not have gone because we are all really Wonderlusty for Asia, Japan in particular. We spent the entire time talking about how much we wished we were in Japan.

Fishy fish.

Fishy fish.

We had a few more photo ops:

Aww sam. You are so Sam

Aww sam. You are so Sam

And I did my last public display of asana for the day:

Two circles. Art.

After this, we walked for about 40 minutes to get to a bus stop to take us back in the direction of home, only to realize that Marcus had left his backpack at the Tea Gardens. He went back to get it and Sammi and I went to Plant Cafe once more. We then spent the night scheming about how to hide Sammi's passport.

Sam left at around 5 am on Sunday morning and we all cried.

We love you Sammi! Thank you for coming to see us 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this little look into our lives!
