On the self love path, finding compassion for ourselves is one of the big, key foundations for healing, growth and transformation that we learn to cultivate.
Learning how to be kind to ourselves where we would usually be mean and harsh, learning how to be supportive where we would usually be judgemental, learning how to get past the assumptions that we are just messing up our lives for no reason is KEY to figuring out WHY we are doing what we are, and what we need to actually change for the better.
Finding compassion for ourselves helps us to truly understand ourselves - and when we understand ourselves we can start to support ourselves in ways that lead to true transformation - both in how we feel AND in how we live.
But sometimes we’re going to find that having this compassion actually leads us to a place where we become deeply emotionally overwhelmed.
We’re going to find that when we let down our walls of self hate and judgement, instead of being able to find relief from the constant pain of feeling inadequate and like we need to be fixed, we instead find a pile of really deep, daunting and even scary sadness, anger, fear and overwhelm.
So what do we do when having compassion for ourselves opens the floodgates to a whole bunch of really vulnerable emotions that can feel like they overtake us and drown us?
That’s what we’re going to explore today.
