Figuring out how to use our feelings as a tool for awareness is truly not as easy as it sounds.
For most of us, we've been living in a world where we've been trained day in and day out basically from birth to be squarely in our logical mind most of the time.
We've been trained to look at the external world, what others are doing, what everyone around us 'thinks' and we've been conditioned to use all of THIS information to decide who we're going to be and what we're going to do in life.
From here, if we've attempted to learn how to tune into our feelings, emotions and bodies, if we've tried to learn how to use these OTHER forms of awareness and intelligence as guidance for our lives - we may have found that the mind is still dominating the whole process.
We may have found that while we really THINK we're 'listening to our feelings' what we're actually doing is CONVINCING ourselves that our feelings mean this or that thing, we're following what feels 'safe' and 'familiar' and we're modelling our behaviour after what we believe 'should be' the best thing - and we're then using our feelings as evidence to justify our choices - vs. actually listening to what our feelings are saying.
We have VERY powerful minds, and most of us are using them as a tool to explain our feelings in a way that makes sense to what we already believe and what we're already likely to do - vs. allowing them to ACTUALLY speak to us and to possibly CHANGE our minds about what we think is right, best and the next thing to do in life.
Learning how to ACTUALLY interpret our feelings instead of feeling our feelings and then using the mind to explain how those feelings justify what we already believe is really, really hard work.
So let's dive into today and learn the real difference between FEELING our feelings and listening to them vs. feeling our feelings and assuming we know what they mean based on what we already believe.
