The self help, spirituality and personal growth worlds are FILLED with teachers who tell us that in order to have a good life, we have to get rid of our ‘negative beliefs.’
We’re told over and over again that the reason we suffer, the reason we can’t create the relationships we want, the reason we don’t have an awareness of our purpose, the reason we can’t create the careers we want and so on and so forth is all because we have a ‘negative mindset.’
We’re told that the secret to change, to ‘manifesting’ what we want and to creating a life where we can be our authentic selves lies in our ability to shift our ‘negative beliefs’ to positive ones.
With this, many of us then diligently go about trying to change our negative beliefs.
We do all the thought work, all the mediations, all the prayers, all the affirmations - and it seems like no matter how hard we try, we can’t actually make any REAL shifts to our belief systems.
It seems like the more aware we become of our negative beliefs, the deeper and more entrenched they seem to become.
Almost like they have tentacles that extend and tighten with every moment of awareness.
So what gives?
How can we actually shift our negative beliefs? How can we create better lives for ourselves? Why can’t we just choose to think differently and then FEEL differently?
That’s what we’re going to be exploring today.
