One of the most common misconceptions I see when sharing about self love, is the idea that we are ‘supposed’ to get to a place where we are fully capable of providing EVERYTHING we need for ourselves if we are really ‘doing the self love path right.’
The idea that we are meant to get to a place where we never need love, approval, validation or support from anyone outside of ourselves.
That we are supposed to get to a place where we can have all of our own insights, where we have total self awareness and never need anyone else to help guide us in discovering what we’re feeling or to support us in processing what we’re feeling
That we’re meant to be fully internally self-sufficient - always knowing what we need and always figuring out how to give ourselves what we need without the assistance of anyone else.
Many of us believe that in order to be TRULY self loving, that we must get to a place where we are ALWAYS able to be on our own side, always able to figure out what we need and that even if we *do* use the support of others for a while, that we must eventually get to a place where we no longer need that support.
Is this reality?
Is this really what it means to be self loving?
Is this the goal of the path?
That’s what I want to explore together today.
