Hello Friend!
Most of us WANT to become good problem solvers - at least on an intellectual level.
We WANT to be able to feel like we're capable of figuring things out for ourselves. Like we're able to trust our own judgement. Like we can LEARN as we go and that this learning can help us avoid pain and access pleasure.
But in practice, most of us don't actually FEEL like we're capable of figuring things out.
Rather, we're looking for the expert/guru/life philosophy that gives us all the answers, so that we can feel SAFE and SECURE that we'll always have what we need.
Most of us are seeking to 'perfect' ourselves in some area of our lives, hoping that when/if we do, we will FINALLY be free from suffering and in a state of bliss forever and ever.
Most of us feel like if we have to spend the rest of our lives 'figuring things out' that this ACTUALLY just means we will be stuck in pain, confusion and suffering forever.
But the reality is - there isn't actually a perfect we can get to that promises we will never have pain again. There's no perfect person, philosophy, way of life, healing or transcendence in this reality that will take us from pain to permanent pleasure.
And when we let go of that dream, we can find that problem solving - even though it's far less glamorous and DOES involve pain - is actually our BEST shot at a happy and fulfilling life.
Learning to become a good problem solver is a big deal.
Let's dive into it and see where we get, shall we?
